Sham Shui Po

12th June 2009 – Hong Kong

Today, i had lunch at Cafe De Coral, Steam Chicken Mushroom Rice @ HKG 26. Very nice. Followed by shopping in Sham Shui Po. Sham Shui Po’s main street named Cheung Sha Road is a wholesale market for clothing. It’s very cheap to shop here but the shopkeepers normally do not entertain retail. They are only willing to sell those that they place in a box or hang on a hanger. It range from HKD10 to HKD 60 but i think anything less than HKD$50 is an okie buy, anything more than that is quite expensive cas you cannot try and cannot return for an exchange.

i bought quite a lot of clothes here ranging from HKD10 to HKD 45

  • Grey Kimono Top HKD 20
  • Brown Grey Top HKD 10
  • Pink shirt HKD 45
  • Pink T-shirt HKD 10
  • Blue, Purple Grey Top/dress HKD20
  • Brown Dress HKD 45

Total spend – $150 for 6 pcs of clothing. SGD about $30

Then I went to Lai chi Kok MTR for the HK Industrial Centre. It’s a building with many little shops selling wholesale. The clothes are not very suitable for me cas it’s very hippy and causal. I’m looking more for office wear. They do entertain retails but again it’s only for the discount rack. I didn’t bother to check the clothes inside cas non interest me.

Then I went KFC for a meal and break. Too tired from all the walking, cost me HKD18 for a simple meal of drinks and meat.  Then Aryle Centre for more retail therapy but no use cas nothing much here also. Also very hippy clothes, actually i think clothes is very similar to Lai Chi Kok MTR. But i think the shoes is worth checking out. It’s look like a reasonable buy but I think Charles and Keith better in terms of quality and pricing.

Later, too tired to continue walking, so went to Shui Lu Xian for mango desert. HKD $30 for mango + 2 small chicken wing. The chicken wing is very very small but quite nice. Then I went to Ladies Market. Wanted to buy a fake Tiffany bracelet but it cost HKD$40, which is around SGD $8. I only wanted to pay like HKD$20 which they refuse to sell me. So ended up with nothing. Then, wanted to go to Temple Street. Spotted a Sasa outlet along Nathan Road. How to resist, bought a lip gloss, lip balm and eye shadow for like HKD 16.

My hubby called me and asked me to meet him back in Mongkok for Small Fat Sheep, a steamboat famous for mutton. It’s only cost like HKD138 per person for buffet. A great deal. Much cheaper than the 1st time I tried it in HK last year. Then followed by more shopping at ladies market, closure was smelly beancurb with milk tea. I  love the milk tea in HK. Very milky taste.

Damage for the day

  • 1st day fruits and drinks was $0.90 more
  • Lunch HKD 26
  • Shopping at Sham Shui Po HKD $150
  • KFC  HKD18
  • Mango Dessert HKD30
  • Sasa outlet HKD 16
  • Milk Tea HKD 34
  • Total damage HKD 274.90

Today left with HKD 1035.60. More than what I spend cas hubby pass me some coins just now.
